Breast reconstruction -> Breast lipostructure

Lipostructure of breasts reconstructed after mastectomy - Sables d'Olonne

Breast lipostructure, derived from the fat transfers technique used on the face, also called lipofilling or lipomodelling, is widely used and mastered in breasts reconstruction surgery, which it has significantly improved.

There are many breast reconstruction procedures, after a mastectomy.  They can be presented in three categories :

  • Reconstruction by breast implants
  • Reconstruction by flap and implant
  • Reconstruction by autologous tissues
Despite all these refined techniques, small defects of irregularity, lack of volume or projection, neckline asymmetry often still persist.  To correct these defects, or even, in exceptional cases, to reconstruct the complete breast, it is possible to transfer the patient’s fat according to the lipostructure technique.

The transfer of fat into the breast (lipostructure of reconstructed breasts) is often carried out during a second operation, in combination with other breast refining procedures.

This procedure is an integral part of the breast reconstruction and the costs are covered by the national health insurance.
